An Appeal to Our Food and Hospitality Community to Take Action Now for Gaza

Dear Industry Friends,

As Palestinians and allies fighting for a just and humane food system here in the U.S. where we live and work, we have come together to call our colleagues to action for Gaza and we hope that you will join us.

The Hospitality for Humanity pledge is building a coalition spanning geographies, communities, and diasporas. Together, we can leverage our skills, resources and connections as U.S.-based food and beverage workers to affirm life and dignity for everyone as we call for a ceasefire in Gaza and an end to U.S. funding and weapons for Israeli occupation.

No matter the hostility we may face as we challenge the status quo, we take inspiration from others who have taken a principled stand on Israeli human rights abuses. When NFL player Michael Bennett canceled a sponsored trip to Israel, refusing to be used by the U.S. or Israeli governments as an “influencer” in support of their right-wing, racist agendas, he quoted 1968 Olympian John Carlos as guidance for his decision: “There is no partial commitment to justice. You are either in or you’re out.” We hope you are in.

Can we count on you to sign on to this appeal to our food and beverage community to take action for Gaza?

In solidarity,
Hospitality for Humanity

In the end, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends.
